Book Review: Rhonda Bowen’s Get You Good – Just Yummy!

“Get You Good” by Rhonda Bowen is her best book thus far.  It is an interesting tale of love.  Love of God, love of family, love of money and love of friends.

Sydney Isaacs is struggling with all of the above.  She is the manager of her late father’s bakery.  Sydney loves the store and everything that it represents.  She does everything that she knows how to make the store a successful business. She is fairly happy with her life until the man of her dreams who is also a friend from the past,  Hayden “Dub” Windsor, walks back in.

Hayden Windsor is a former basketball player and Sydney’s childhood friend.  They reconnect and everything appears to be fine, until a person from his past shows up.  Sydney’s world is turned upside down.  She must then learn what love, true love, is.  She begins equate love with being proud, dishonoring others, being self seeking  and lying.  All of the things that love is not.

As I was reading this book I wanted to shake Sydney and tell her that all the things she was doing was wrong.  She needed to open her eyes and see that she was not obeying the word, not loving herself her family and friends the way that God wanted her to.  “Get you Good” is a good read.  You will not be disappointed.
