About My Services
I enjoy working with writers and new authors. I honestly love to see a writer’s dream of holding their finished novel in their hands come true. However, I have noticed that many times the finished product in their hands was not ready for publication. Because of the inability of many writers to find good, objective feedback on their writing, I’ve decided to offer some services that will fill this gap. My (4) four services are:
No erotica, science fiction, short story, children’s book, or non-fiction projects will be considered at this time.
Additional Points
With respect to the Manuscript Critique and the Substantive Edit, my desire is to work with writers or authors who are either ready or almost ready for publication. I will easily be able to determine this from your writing sample based on basic writing rules and your integration of craft techniques. If I determine that you have not taken steps to study the craft of writing, I will likely reject your project and refer you to resources that will help you to improve your work.
I will provide you with a contract that clearly defines what will be provided to you. If you decide to contract me to provide a service, you are under no obligation to accept or agree with the changes I suggest. Editing is subjective in nature. My suggestions and feedback may contradict other feedback you have received. This is normal. I make comments based on my understanding of the craft of fiction, current trends in the publishing, and based on my own writing experience. My ideas may be different from someone else who may be equally qualified to make suggestions.
Payment
I accept payments by PayPal at rhondamcknight@gmail.com (OR see button below), postal money order or cashier’s check. Please contact me to let me know what service you would like and how you want to pay and I will give you instructions.
- I require payment of the first month of Coaching Services prior to scheduling the first session.
- I require a 50% deposit before I will begin a Manuscript Evaluation, Manuscript Critique or Substantive Edit. The balance is due before delivery of the the project.
- If necessary, please contact me to discuss a payment plan that fits your budget. I am a very reasonable person who is willing to work with you to meet your needs.
I also occasionally take assignments critiquing a query or synopsis for existing customers. These will be taken on a case by case basis and a price will be determined. I will also accept copy editing projects from publishing houses (which includes a substantive edit, proofreading and fact checking). The price for this will be determined by the size of the project.
Proofread Only projects are billed at $1.25 per page. A page is 250 words. Delivery is 10 days from confirmation of payment. 50% deposit is due at acceptance.
