Beyonce Is Forever…

Sooo, there is a story circulating about a young lady who announced on social media that she is getting evicted. She spent her rent money on Beyonce tickets. She said “Shelter comes and goes, but Beyonce is forever.” Interesting value system there, but in the spirit of not judging her choice, maybe her mama moved her around a lot as a child. Maybe shelter does come and go.

As a child my character Samaria Jacobs grew up like that. Her mother moved around a lot because of evictions and it had some pretty damaging effects. In An Inconvenient Friend deceitful diva, Samaria Jacobs, plots to get close to her lover’s wife in order to get inside information about his troubled marriage. What she doesn’t expect to find is the one thing she’s never had…a friend. Available at Amazon, B&N, BAM, iBooks and through your local bookseller.

Sherri Lewis’s Finding Mrs Wright

I read James Patterson, Tess Gerriston, Pamela Samuels Young, Walter Mosley and a whole host of other mystery and suspense writers, but everyone once in awhile I like to kick back, relax and fall in love. When I read Finding Mrs Wright I fell in love with the characters and impatiently waited for them to do the same.

Devon Wright hasn’t considered being in a serious relationship for the last seven years. Not since he met Quartisha Shauntae Randall – aka Satan’s little sister – who is, unfortunately, his baby mama. He’s not the kind of guy that can live without a woman, so he finds himself in a string of short-term relationships, breaking heart after heart – without meaning to, of course. He tells the women he dates that he’s not looking for something serious, but somehow, they keep falling for him and wanting something more.

Devon’s parents and best friend, Charles, who used to be Atlanta’s most notorious player, keep telling him it’s time to get into a real relationship with the right woman and get married. When his six year-old daughter, Brianna, begins to ask him when he’s gonna get her a “real mama,” Devon begins to wonder if it’s time to try getting serious again.

When Charles introduces him to the best friend of the woman who convinced him to turn in his player card, Devon is intrigued. Cassandra Parker is smart, sassy, and sexy, but the catch is, she’ll only get into a relationship that’s headed toward marriage. The more Devon gets to know her, the more he realizes that she’s the right woman for him. But will his past heartbreak, crazy baby mama drama, and commitment issues keep him from making her Mrs. Wright?

2013 Books I’m Looking Forward To Reading

Tiffany Warren, one of my very, very favorite authors is back with a women’s fiction release. Don’t Tell A Soul. I promise I won’t. It’s available January 29, 2013. Here’s a little about it:

In this powerful new novel, the trio of faithful friends from Tiffany L. Warren’s inspirational bestseller What a Sista Should Do are older–but are they wiser?…

Once successful, Pam Lyon’s husband, Troy, has blown their fortune. Now he’s hustling to make a comeback. But his partner, Logan, is more interested in connecting with Pam–and soon he crosses a line that will challenge Pam’s marriage. . .

Taylor Oldman’s ex, Luke, is finally out of prison and wants a relationship with their eleven-year-old son. But newly remarried Taylor doesn’t want Luke in her life. The problem is, the boy is acting out–and Luke is the only one who can reach him. Can Taylor forgive Luke for the sake of their child?…

Recently divorced, Yvonne Hastings is lonely for the first time in years. She finds solace by befriending new church member Eva Logan. Eva is trying to leave behind her scandalous past, but it seems she can’t let go of everything. And when her behavior starts to affect Yvonne, she’ll have to reflect on what it means to be a good friend in and out of church. . .

As their personal lives test them like never before, can these three women find a way to keep the faith–and their friendship?…

Victoria Christopher Murray and Reshonda Tate Billingsely are back with more drama from the two messiest First Ladies I’ve ever…YOU’VE ever read about in the sequel to record breaking bestseller, Sinners & Saints, Friends and Foes. Available Feb. 26, 2013. Here’s more about it:

The drama is still fresh between Rachel Jackson Adams and Jasmine Larson Bush after each woman attempted to get her husband elected to the coveted position of President of the American Baptist Coalition. Now, everyone’s favorite First Ladies are going at it again.

When Rachel learns that Jasmine is going to be featured on a national television interview—thanks to the publicist she hired—the gloves are off and Rachel is set to do battle. But unexpectedly Rachel finds herself caught up in a much more ominous plot—one that involves murder—and must navigate these troubled waters with her least-expected ally, Jasmine.

Combining light-hearted action with a message of faith, this book is a delightful read featuring two beloved characters from two exceptional authors.
Rhonda Bowen’s Get You Good. I actually already read this when it was in it’s developmental stage. Lucky me. I loved it and can’t wait to read the final version. I highly, highly, highly recommend it. It’s available March 26, 2013. Here’s a little about Get You Good:

Sydney Isaacs has two priorities: her family, and Decadent, the gourmet pastry business they founded almost three generations ago. But both are in jeopardy when her brother, Dean, announces his sudden engagement to the conniving Sheree Vern. Much to Sydney’s dismay, Dean inherits ownership of Decadent, despite his lack of interest. Now he and Sheree are selling the chain to finance his dreams of becoming a music producer–or so Dean believes. . .

Thanks to Sheree, Dean’s plans, the business, and his marriage, soon implode in ways he never expected–leaving Sydney determined to salvage whatever she can, and fix the mess left behind. Her only solace is her romance with Hayden Windsor. But Hayden is Sheree’s half brother, and it doesn’t take long for Sydney to wonder if Hayden knew about Sheree’s scheming all along? Soon Sydney creates a deception of her own to find out the truth. Her strategy is working, until the consequences threaten to destroy everything she values most–including her faith. Overcome with guilt, can she make things right with her brother, with Hayden, and with God?…

I’ll be back soon with more great selections as I find out what my favorite authors are releasing.  If you need something to read this weekend here are some great choices as well:

What Kind of Fool by yours truly. Just in case you haven’t read it yet. Here’s a bit about my latest novel:

Angelina Preston tunes out the voice of God when she decides to divorce her husband, Greg. She’s forgiven him for his affair, but she won’t forget, even though her heart is telling her to. Shortly after she files divorce papers, she finds out her non-profit organization is being investigated by the IRS for money laundering. In the midst of the very public scandal, Angelina becomes ill. Through financial and physical trials, she learns that faith and forgiveness may really be the cure for all that ails her, but can she forgive the people who hurt her most?

Sexy, successful Dr. Gregory Preston didn’t appreciate his wife when he had her. His affair with a devious man-stealer has him put out of his home and put off with women who continue to throw themselves at him. Greg wants his wife back, but he’ll have to do some fancy operating to get her. When the secrets and lies from his past continue to mess up his future, Greg finds himself looking to the God he abandoned long ago for a miracle only faith can provide.

Samaria Jacobs finally has the one thing she’s always wanted: a man with money. The fact that she’s in love with him is a bonus, but even so, life is anything but blissful. She’s paying for her past sins in ways she never imagined and living in fear that the secret she’s keeping will separate them forever.

Kimberla Lawson Roby has a new release. It’s hot off the presses. The Perfect Marriage. ADDICTION. DECEPTION.

Denise and Derrek Shaw are the perfect American couple. Happily married for fifteen years, they have a wonderful daughter, Mackenzie, successful careers, and a beautiful house in a posh Chicago suburb. They are attractive, respected . . . and hiding a shocking secret: a dangerous addiction to drugs.

It started innocently enough. Denise occasionally used prescription drugs to help her deal with the long hours and demanding nature of her job. Derrek, also under pressure at work, began using cocaine socially with some of his colleagues.

They can quit whenever they want to. At least, that’s what Denise would like to believe . . .

As her job becomes more stressful, Denise can no longer get through the day without a fix. Derrek realizes his harmless habit has become anything but, and desperately wants to get clean. However, his attempts are derailed when there is a sudden family tragedy. Once soul mates, now this husband and wife are quickly losing the immense love that had been the cornerstone of their marriage. With her parents spiraling out of control, Mackenzie makes an unexpected move to take matters into her own hands. Is her sacrifice too late-or is there still hope? Is there a final chance to save the Shaw family?
